NGS PRINTING HELPS PROTECT FRONTLINE DOCTORS AND NURSES

Just as the scope of the COVID-19 pandemic was becoming apparent, Erik Landrowski received an unusual customer call. Would his company, NGS Printing, be willing to help produce 50,000 face shields for frontline doctors and nurses – tomorrow?

He made the decision without blinking: Yes. This was before even asking about pricing, before considering how difficult it would be to repurpose their equipment. As the Chief Operating Officer, he knew they could do it.

“This was a great way to do something positive, during a time of great negativity,” said Landrowski. “This was something that goes beyond just the work. Helping others in a time like this was an honor.”

NGS Printing specializes in printing large format graphics on rigid plastics and papers. The company, based in Elgin, IL, has made significant capital investments in top-end equipment. First Midwest Bank helped NGS Printing get financing to become the first company in North America to own a Zund D3 digital finishing system, for example. As it turned out, the Zund D3 was just what was needed for this job.

The NGS team got to work. They wore masks to decrease their chance of infecting front liners, and their machines started cutting. NGS Printing exceeded expectations for speed. Their quality resulted in a contract extension. In total, Erik and his team cut 218,585 face shields to help frontline workers treating COVID-19 patients.
